GoldBod Suspends Domestic Bonsu, McWoode Ray Licenses
The Ghana GoldBod has suspended the operating licenses of Domestic Bonsu Ventures and McWoode Ray 24 Enterprise with immediate effect over alleged breaches of regulatory protocols governing gold trading and due diligence.
The regulatory action follows a compliance audit that identified infractions relating to documentation, traceability, and adherence to anti-money laundering standards. According to GoldBod, both entities failed to meet statutory obligations required for licensed dealers within the domestic gold value chain.
In a statement, the authority emphasized that the suspension serves to safeguard market integrity and uphold Ghana’s obligations under international frameworks for responsible sourcing. GoldBod noted that all trading activities by the two firms must cease pending a comprehensive review and remedial action.
Industry analysts describe the move as a signal of heightened regulatory vigilance. According to JoyNews, a senior GoldBod official stated that “the integrity of our gold sector cannot be compromised by procedural lapses. We will enforce standards without exception to protect Ghana’s reputation and revenue.”
