Gunu Engages GJA Ahead Of Mahama’s Volta Tour
HO — Volta Regional Minister James Gunu has hosted members of the Volta Regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association to a strategic breakfast meeting at the Residency, ahead of H.E. President John Dramani Mahama’s Resetting Ghana Tour of the region.
The engagement served as a precursor to the presidential visit, with discussions centered on aligning government messaging, development priorities, and media collaboration across the Volta Region.
According to Gunu, the meeting provided a platform to brief the media on the objectives of the President’s tour and to outline tangible progress under the government’s development agenda. He emphasized that the administration remains committed to fulfilling pledges made to the people of Volta and to ensuring that interventions permeate every district and community.
The Minister lauded the role of the press as a critical stakeholder in governance. “A vibrant and responsible media remains an indispensable partner in promoting transparency, accountability, and inclusive development,” he stated. He further expressed appreciation to the Volta Regional Coordinating Council and media practitioners for sustaining a cordial working relationship.
In attendance were the Volta Regional Chairman of the GJA, Dr. Harrison Kofi Belley, members of the Association, and the Chief Director of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council, Alhaji Mohammed Avorna Akape. Their presence underscored the importance of synergy between state institutions and the Fourth Estate as the region prepares to receive the President.
With the Resetting Ghana Tour imminent, the Minister reiterated that partnership with the media would be instrumental in amplifying policy outcomes and in fostering public trust. The breakfast dialogue signals an intentional effort to entrench open communication as a pillar of regional development.
