Prez Mahama Tours Key Projects In Volta Region
President John Dramani Mahama will embark on a two-day working tour of the Volta Region from Thursday, July 16 to Friday, July 17, 2026, to inspect key development projects, inaugurate public infrastructure and engage citizens as part of the government’s ongoing national development agenda.
The visit will focus on infrastructure, healthcare, education, security, sports and community engagement, with the President expected to assess the progress of major projects and interact with residents and stakeholders across the region.
The tour will commence on Thursday morning in Juapong, where President Mahama will perform the sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a 24-Hour Economy Market. The project is expected to support local commerce, create employment opportunities and contribute to efforts aimed at stimulating economic activity within the municipality.
From Juapong, the President will proceed to the Peki College of Education to inspect a newly completed 1,500-seat multipurpose assembly hall. The facility is expected to enhance academic and institutional activities by providing a modern venue for lectures, examinations, conferences and other official functions.
Later in the day, President Mahama will inspect ongoing road construction works on the Asikuma–Anyirawase Road and the UHAS Bypass–Anyirawase to Ho Road. The inspection will enable the government to assess the pace and quality of work while ensuring the timely completion of projects expected to improve transportation, ease traffic movement and enhance economic connectivity within the region.
The President will also visit the Sokode Campus of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), where he will inspect the construction of a multipurpose laboratory complex. The project is expected to strengthen practical training, research and innovation in health sciences while expanding the university’s teaching infrastructure.
The first day of the tour will conclude at the Ho Municipal Hospital, where President Mahama will participate in a durbar organised under the Free Primary Health Care Programme. The event is expected to bring together health professionals, traditional authorities, local government officials and members of the public to highlight the government’s commitment to improving access to quality healthcare services.
On the second day of the tour, Friday, July 17, the President will begin with an inspection of the Ho Sports Stadium to assess the condition of the facility and evaluate its readiness for sporting activities, as well as identify areas requiring rehabilitation or further investment.
He will later participate in the #ResettingGhana Citizens Engagement at Ho Technical University, where he is expected to interact directly with residents, students, professionals and other stakeholders on government policies, development initiatives and issues affecting the Volta Region.
In the afternoon, President Mahama will inaugurate the Akatsi North District Police Headquarters at Ave Dakpa. The new police facility is expected to strengthen law enforcement operations, improve security service delivery and enhance public safety within the district.
The President will conclude his tour with an inspection of the Ho–Denu Road, a strategic transport corridor linking communities within the Volta Region to the eastern border. The visit will provide an opportunity to assess the progress of work and reinforce the government’s commitment to improving road infrastructure as a catalyst for trade, mobility and regional development.
The two-day working visit underscores the government’s continued emphasis on monitoring the implementation of public projects, strengthening essential services and maintaining direct engagement with citizens to ensure that national development initiatives respond effectively to the needs of local communities.
