MP Fulfils Promise with Donation of Borehole Accessories to Lume Kpodoave

The Member of Parliament for Ho Central Constituency, Hon Richmond Edem Kofi Kpotosu has today fulfilled a promise made to the people of Lume Kpodoave during the 2025 Easter celebrations by donating borehole accessories to support the completion of a community water project.
The presentation, which was warmly received by residents, traditional authorities and community leaders marks a significant step towards improving access to safe and reliable drinking water in the community. The MP assured residents that the donation of the accessories forms part of a broader commitment.
Addressing the gathering, the MP stressed the importance of access to clean water, describing it as one of the most essential requirements for healthy living and community development. “Water is life,” he said, reaffirming his determination to honour commitments made to the people and improve the living conditions of communities within the constituency.
He also used the occasion to educate residents on the constitutional responsibilities of Members of Parliament, explaining that their core functions include representation, oversight and law-making. He noted that while MPs advocate for the needs of their constituents and influence development projects, sustainable progress also requires active community participation.
The MP encouraged residents to establish a Water Board to oversee the operation, maintenance and sustainability of the water system once it becomes operational. According to him, community ownership and responsible management are essential to ensuring that the facility serves both present and future generations. He further explained that the water system would benefit individual households and urged residents to work together to protect and maintain the facility for long-term use.
Beyond the water project, the MP also took time to educate the community on the provisions of the Intestate Succession Law before Parliament, explaining its relevance in protecting the rights of families and beneficiaries in matters of inheritance. The Lawmaker also briefed the people on the Progress of Anti-LGBTQ laws stressing that penalties under the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill takes up to 10 years prison sentence.
He assured residents that everyone entitled to benefits under the law would receive what they rightfully deserve.
The event also provided an opportunity for residents to engage directly with their representative, with ample time devoted to addressing concerns affecting the community and discussing possible solutions to local development challenges.
In a lighter moment, some residents appealed to the MP to remember ordinary grassroots party supporters and not only party executives whenever opportunities and government interventions are shared. They observed that many loyal supporters continue to contribute to the party’s success and should equally benefit from the “national cake.”
Responding to the concerns, the MP assured the gathering that his development agenda transcends political affiliation. He said the donation of the borehole accessories demonstrates his commitment to serving every resident of the constituency without discrimination.
“The event today is a clear testament that our commitment to development knows no party colours. We are here to serve every member of the community,” The MP stated.
The Assembly Member for the area, Mr. Akoto Eric, expressed profound appreciation to the MP for honouring his promise to the people of Lume Kpodoave. He noted that the gesture reflected responsible leadership and urged other Members of Parliament across the Volta Region to emulate such commitment to fulfilling campaign and development promises.
Traditional authorities also commended the intervention. Torgbe Adzanku Holeafe, Chief of Lume Kpodoave, together with the elders of the community, expressed their excitement over the donation, describing it as a major boost to efforts to provide a reliable water supply for residents.
The chief thanked the MP for responding to the needs of the community and appealed for continued support to accelerate development initiatives in the area.
