The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), in collaboration with other state security agencies, has shut down Liquid Zero Pub at Nungua-Kantamanto following an operation that uncovered suspected illicit drugs on the premises.
The enforcement exercise led to the arrest of two members of staff who are currently assisting with investigations into the alleged possession and distribution of the substances.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by regulatory and law enforcement authorities to clamp down on the sale and circulation of illicit drugs in entertainment venues and other public establishments.
Officials reportedly conducted a search of the premises after acting on intelligence, leading to the discovery of substances believed to be illicit drugs. The establishment was subsequently closed to pave the way for further investigations and forensic examination of the items retrieved.
As at the time of the reports, authorities are yet to disclose the exact type and quantity of the suspected drugs seized, pending laboratory analysis. They have, however, reiterated their commitment to protecting public health and ensuring strict compliance with Ghana’s laws governing controlled substances.
The FDA has also cautioned operators of pubs, lounges, clubs, and other hospitality businesses against engaging in activities that threaten public safety, warning that offenders will face the full rigours of the law.
Investigations are ongoing, with authorities indicating that further arrests or enforcement actions may follow should additional evidence emerge.
The latest operation underscores the intensified nationwide campaign against the sale and abuse of illicit drugs, as regulators continue to strengthen efforts to safeguard public health and maintain law and order.
