Bole SHS Teacher Faces Arrest, Pay Frozen
The Ghana Education Service has interdicted a Bole Senior High School teacher and frozen his emoluments over allegations of a sexual encounter with a student, as police intensify a manhunt for his arrest. The action underscores the Service’s zero-tolerance stance on educator misconduct.
According to Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, the teacher’s salary has been suspended pending investigations and law enforcement has been tasked to apprehend him. He said the Service is treating the case with utmost urgency to protect learners and preserve institutional integrity.
The allegation has provoked outrage within the Bole school community, with parents, alumni, and child-rights advocates demanding swift accountability. Counselling teams have been deployed to support the affected student and to reassure pupils that reporting abuse will not attract reprisal.
Ghana’s education policy mandates stringent safeguarding protocols, including background vetting, mandatory reporting, and disciplinary procedures for sexual exploitation in schools. The Service maintains that any educator found culpable will face administrative sanctions, prosecution, and permanent removal from the profession.
The incident revives broader concerns about supervision, reporting channels, and ethical training in secondary schools. Advocacy groups argue for strengthened oversight in boarding facilities, confidential grievance mechanisms, and continuous professional development on teacher-student boundaries.
