Four Persons Remanded In Worawora Riot

On 27/10/2026, the Dambai Circuit Court remanded four persons, namely Kwame Aboagye Ahenkroa (55), Prince Asante (27), Daniel Wiafe (20) and Kwabena Nsimbo (22), into Police custody in connection with disturbances that occurred at Dwabrem, Worawora, on 24/10/2026. The accused persons are to reappear before the court on 17/11/2026.
The incident involved the burning of vehicle tyres and other acts of violence amid tensions surrounding the commencement of rites for the Akwantutenten Festival, reportedly over claims that a High Court injunction had been obtained to restrain the celebration. Police personnel deployed to the scene extinguished the fire and restored order.
On 26/10/2026, the Oti Regional Security Council (REGSEC), at a meeting with representatives of the disputing families, directed all parties to seek redress through the appropriate courts and Houses of Chiefs.
