The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has directed all Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to halt discounted fuel pricing and ensure uniform pricing across their retail outlets nationwide, effective March 16. This move aims to promote fairness and transparency in the petroleum industry.
The directive applies to all OMCs, requiring them to adhere to the approved pricing structure. The NPA emphasized that any deviations will be met with penalties, underscoring its commitment to enforcing regulations.
The move is expected to benefit consumers, who have been facing inconsistent pricing across different stations. The NPA’s decision seeks to eliminate price gullibility and ensure that all customers pay the same price for fuel, regardless of location.
Industry analysts view the move as a welcome development, likely to boost consumer confidence in the market. “Uniform pricing will promote a level playing field for all players,” said an industry expert.
The NPA has been working to improve the regulatory framework governing the petroleum industry, with this latest directive part of efforts to enhance accountability.
As the implementation date approaches, OMCs are gearing up to comply with the new directive, set to reshape Ghana’s fuel retail landscape.
