Saint Kitts and Nevis PM Strengthens Ghana Ties

The Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, The Honourable Dr Terrance Michael Drew, has arrived in Ghana for a four-day official visit aimed at bolstering bilateral relations between the two nations. Dr. Drew’s visit coincides with Ghana’s 69th Independence Day celebrations, and he is expected to join dignitaries and citizens at the national parade on Friday, March 6.
According to Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister of Government Communications, the visit underscores the growing partnership between Ghana and Saint Kitts and Nevis, particularly in education, health, trade, investment, and technology under the framework of South-South cooperation.
Dr. Drew’s itinerary includes meetings with government officials, academics, and traditional leaders. He will engage with the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana and participate in bilateral discussions at the Presidency. The Prime Minister will also visit key cultural and historical landmarks, including the W.E.B. Du Bois Memorial Centre, the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, and the Cape Coast Castle.
The visit is expected to enhance cooperation between Ghana and Saint Kitts and Nevis in key sectors, including education, healthcare, trade, investment, and technology. The two countries are exploring exchange programs to deepen ties, and Dr. Drew’s visit is seen as a significant step in strengthening diplomatic and economic relations.
The Prime Minister’s visit is part of efforts to foster South-South cooperation, with Ghana taking a leadership role in advocating for deeper Afro-Caribbean engagement. The Africa-Caribbean Summit, which held its inaugural session in 2021, has been instrumental in promoting unity and cooperation between the two regions.
As Ghana and Saint Kitts and Nevis continue to strengthen their partnership, the international community awaits the outcomes of Dr. Drew’s visit, expected to yield new opportunities for collaboration and growth.
