Honest Cops Return GHC 85,000 to Owner

The Bono East Regional Police Command in Techiman has returned a bag containing GHC 85,000 to its rightful owner, Stephen Ofori, a 53-year-old businessman from Ashtown, Kumasi. According to ASP Appiah Danquah, Bono East Regional Police PRO, the bag was found on the roadside on February 14, 2026, with a phone number and the name “Ofori” written on it.
The police officers on duty at the Snap Check Point on the Techiman-Kumasi Highway, led by Inspector George Appiah, picked up the bag and handed it over to the Regional Command for investigation. The contact number on the bag was called, and Mr. Ofori responded, identifying himself as the owner.
Mr. Ofori stated that the money was being transported from GCB Bank, Wa to Kumasi via a commercial vehicle. The amount was verified in his presence, and the police released the cash sum of GHC 85,000 to him after satisfactory explanation and verification.
The police have commended their officers and the community members who reported the find, highlighting the importance of honesty and integrity. The incident is a testament to the police’s commitment to serving the community.
The Bono East Regional Police Command has urged citizens to report any lost items to the police, assuring them of their efforts to reunite them with their owners.
