Faith and Failing: Nana Agradaa’s Appeal Hits a Snag

In a dramatic courtroom scene, Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, broke down in tears as the Amasaman High Court adjourned her appeal against a 15-year prison sentence. The former fetish priestess-turned-evangelist had a poignant touch – a handkerchief wrapped around her handcuffs with Bible verses from 1 John 5:4-5, underscoring her faith amidst turmoil.

Nana Agradaa is challenging her conviction for charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence, claiming the trial was flawed and the sentence excessive. Her lawyer, Richard Asare Baffour, cited technical challenges with electronic evidence as the reason for the adjournment.

According to Citi News, the court has set February 5, 2026, for judgment, allowing the Attorney-General’s Office time to file written addresses. The prosecution had requested more time, which the defence opposed, but the court granted the request.

Nana Agradaa’s troubles began in 2022 when she was arrested for allegedly defrauding people through her church’s money-doubling scheme. She was convicted in July 2025 and sentenced to 15 years in prison. Her appeal argues the sentence is disproportionate and the evidence presented didn’t support the verdict.

The case has drawn significant public attention, given Nana Agradaa’s prominence as a religious figure. Her lawyer argues she’s a first-time offender and a mother of five, deserving of mercy.

As the court awaits judgment, Nana Agradaa’s fate hangs in the balance, a testament to the complexities of faith, justice, and redemption.
