Rapid Response Saves Lives: Sokode Lokoe Highway Cleared of Wreckage

 

Hon. Kofi Kpotosu, MP for Ho Central Constituency, has commended the swift action of the Police Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) and the Fire Service for preventing a potential disaster on the Sokode Lokoe highway. The team quickly removed a damaged vehicle from the road, easing congestion and averting a possible tragedy.

 

According to Edem Kofi Kpotosu, the prompt action has been praised by many, highlighting the importance of collaboration in maintaining road safety. The incident underscores Ghana’s ongoing efforts to reduce accidents and ensure safe passage for all road users.

 

The National Road Safety Authority emphasizes the need for caution, particularly during peak travel periods. Ghana recorded a worrying surge in road accidents, with 9,626 crashes reported between January and August 2025, resulting in 1,937 fatalities and 10,957 injuries ยน.

 

Reckless driving, poor road conditions, and inadequate road signage are major contributors to the country’s road accident crisis. The authorities must prioritize improving road infrastructure, enforcing traffic regulations, and promoting responsible driving habits.

 

The Ghana Police Service’s MTTD has been working tirelessly to enforce traffic regulations and prevent accidents. Their efforts, combined with those of other agencies, are crucial in making Ghana’s roads safer.
