GNFS Officers Face Disciplinary Action Over Journalist Assault

President Mahama has ordered the interdiction of Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) officers involved in the attack on a Class Media Group journalist at Kasoa New Market. The incident occurred while the journalist, Samuel Addo, was covering a fire outbreak at the market.
According to reports, Addo was assaulted by fire service officers who allegedly tried to prevent him from filming the scene. A video circulating online shows Addo being manhandled amid a chaotic scene.
The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has condemned the attack, calling it a “brutal, unlawful and reprehensible” act. GJA President Albert Kwabena Dwumfour has demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of all personnel involved.
The Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has also condemned the attack, stating that firm action will be taken against the officers responsible. The GNFS has warned that any officer found guilty of assaulting the journalist faces dismissal.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for justice for Addo. The Ghana Police Service has been urged to investigate and prosecute those responsible.
