Bobi Wine Flees Security Raid
Bobi Wine Flees Security Raid Amidst Disputed Ugandan Presidential Vote

Ugandan opposition leader Bobi Wine has revealed he escaped a security raid on his home, hours before incumbent President Yoweri Museveni was declared the winner of the presidential election. According to Bobi Wine, security forces raided his Magere home overnight, switching off electricity and disabling CCTV cameras, but he managed to escape.
In a statement, Bobi Wine said, “I want to confirm that I managed to escape from them. Currently, I am not at home, although my wife and other family members remain under house arrest.” He attributed the confusion about his whereabouts to a nationwide internet blackout and restricted access to his home.
The Electoral Commission announced that Museveni won the election with 71.88% of the vote, while Bobi Wine trailed with 24.46%. However, Bobi Wine has rejected the results, alleging widespread fraud and intimidation. “These results have zero backing,” he said, citing ballot stuffing and detention of opposition leaders.
According to reports, security forces have been deployed across the country, and there are concerns about post-election unrest. At least seven people were killed overnight in election-related violence.
Bobi Wine, a former pop star, has been challenging Museveni’s long-standing rule, and his party, the National Unity Platform, has been vocal about alleged electoral irregularities. The international community, including the United Nations, has expressed concerns about the election process.
The final results are expected to be announced later, but tensions remain high as Ugandans await the outcome.
