NDC Moves to Tackle Vote-Buying Scandal

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has established a 7-member committee to recommend sweeping reforms to address the menace of vote-buying in Ghana’s electoral process. According to JoyNews, the move is a significant step towards restoring credibility to the country’s electoral system.

The committee, set up by the NDC’s National Executive Committee, is tasked with reviewing the party’s constitution and proposing measures to prevent vote-buying and other forms of electoral malpractices.

Speaking on the development, a senior NDC official emphasized the need for urgent action to address the issue. “Vote-buying is a cancer that is eating away at the fabric of our democracy,” the official said. “We must act now to restore the integrity of our electoral process.”

The NDC’s move is seen as a response to growing concerns about the prevalence of vote-buying in Ghana’s politics. The issue has been a major talking point in recent elections, with allegations of politicians bribing voters to influence outcomes.

The committee’s recommendations are expected to inform the NDC’s policy positions on electoral reform and guide the party’s approach to addressing vote-buying in future elections.

The establishment of the committee is a positive step towards promoting transparency and accountability in Ghana’s electoral process.
