Bawumia Tours Greater Accra, Drives Support for Himself

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign tour of the Greater Accra Region is gaining momentum, with the former Vice President meeting with party delegates and stakeholders to drum up support for his flagbearership bid. The tour, which is part of his nationwide campaign, has seen him receive overwhelming endorsements from party executives and grassroots supporters.
Bawumia’s message centers on continuity, experience, and his vision for a renewed party. He has been highlighting his achievements in digital transformation, economic policy contributions, and governance reforms implemented during his time as Vice President. GhanaWeb reports that he is pledging to lead a government focused on youth empowerment, job creation, and inclusive economic growth if he wins both the primary and the general election.
The NPP flagbearer aspirant has received glowing endorsements from several delegates and party executives in the Greater Accra Region. He expressed his commitment to prioritizing the welfare of party members, stating, “As I reiterated yesterday in Shai Osudoku, Adenta, and Madina constituencies, prioritizing the welfare of hardworking patriots, who make invaluable contributions to the success of our party, remains a key objective for me”.
Bawumia’s campaign strategy involves more than just regional tours. In June, nearly 70 NPP Members of Parliament visited him at his Accra office to declare their support, demonstrating the institutional backing he has secured within the party. His team believes his proven track record and the strength of his message will secure victory in the January 31, 2026, primaries.
The election is shaping up to be a genuine contest, with Kennedy Agyapong securing the first position on the ballot and other candidates representing different factions and priorities within the party. However, a recent Global Info Analytics survey shows Bawumia leading with 57% of voters preferring him to lead the NPP in 2028, significantly ahead of his closest competitor Kennedy Agyapong at 29%.
