Foreign Ministry Gets New Commuter Buses

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has handed over six brand-new 29-seater Toyota Coaster buses to the Ministry’s staff, aiming to ease their commuting stress and boost productivity. This move is part of the Minister’s commitment to improving staff welfare and motivation, which he considers crucial for effective delivery of Ghana’s foreign policy and regional integration objectives.
The buses, acquired through a competitive procurement process, are fully air-conditioned and meet the required specifications for comfort and value for money. Speaking at the handover ceremony, Minister Ablakwa emphasized that the initiative addresses the transportation challenges faced by staff, particularly junior staff, who struggle with Accra’s congested public transport system. He noted that the buses will not only serve as a means of transportation but also support official events and visiting delegations, enhancing the Ministry’s operational capabilities.
He explained that the acquisition of the buses demonstrates the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring that staff have the necessary resources to perform their duties efficiently. The Minister urged drivers to observe road safety regulations and uphold the Ministry’s image, while staff were encouraged to be punctual and committed to their duties. The buses were handed over just in time for the Ministry’s Diaspora Summit and other end-of-year engagements. Ablakwa expressed his confidence that the buses would contribute to a more efficient and productive work environment, ultimately supporting the Ministry’s goals and Ghana’s diplomatic efforts. The ceremony was attended by senior officials of the Ministry and other dignitaries.
