Volta Caucus Demands Action on Slading Contractors

Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, led a delegation on Monday, 2nd February 2026, to inspect key government projects, demanding action against contractors failing to meet expectations. According to Hon. Gunu, the tour was aimed at assessing progress and promoting accountability in government contracting.

During the inspection, two contractors, Greenhouse International Developers Ghana Limited and China Railway, were found to be underperforming, with one not present on site. The Volta Parliamentary Caucus has vowed to report them to the Minister for Roads and Highways for immediate action.

Contractors who are delivering quality work, including Timeline, First Sky, and Rollder, were commended for their efforts. The delegation also interacted with residents, apologizing for the inconvenience caused by ongoing road works and assuring them that the benefits will soon outweigh the challenges.

The tour covered major projects, including the Big Push and Eastern Corridor road projects, the Kpeve Housing project, and the stalled Agenda 111 District Hospital project. The delegation also visited Agavedzi to inspect Phase Two of the Sea Defence Project and concluded the tour at the Keta Port.

Hon. Gunu emphasized that the tour was a demonstration of the government’s commitment to accountability, quality work, and timely delivery. The move is seen as a bold step towards promoting transparency and accountability in government contracting.

As the government seeks to deliver real development to the people of the Volta Region, the scrutiny of contractors is expected to continue, ensuring that projects are completed to the required standard and within the stipulated timeframe.
