First Lady Lordina Mahama Champions Resilience at OAFLAD Summit

 

First Lady Lordina Mahama joined her fellow African first ladies at the 30th Ordinary Assembly of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The meeting, held on the sidelines of the 39th African Union Summit, focused on building resilience in African communities amid global challenges.

 

According to The Herald Ghana, the two-day gathering centered on strengthening African communities in the face of economic pressures, health crises, and social development needs. The first ladies and their technical advisors held a closed-door meeting to discuss strategies and plans before rejoining their spouses for the official opening of the AU Heads of State Assembly.

 

Mrs. Mahama, known for her commitment to women’s empowerment and children’s welfare, is scheduled to address the assembly, highlighting the importance of collective leadership and social protection systems. Her participation underscores Ghana’s active role in promoting social development and resilience across the continent.

 

The OAFLAD meeting provided a platform for discussions on key development priorities, including women’s empowerment, child welfare, and sustainable community initiatives. The assembly aimed to strengthen collaboration and outline ways to advance development goals in their countries.
