His address to party grassroots in the Bono East Region framed rehabilitated highways as dividends of political stewardship.
According to Dr Edem Segbefia, the government has mobilized historic levels of domestic financing to resurrect dormant corridors and initiate new arteries simultaneously across all regions. Dr Edem Segbefia highlighted that contractor indebtedness has been fully extinguished, rekindling confidence and accelerating project timelines. The “pay-as-you-work” mechanism, he said, has eliminated abandonment of sites and stabilized cash flow for contractors.
Dr Edem Segbefia underscored the Wenchi, Bole, Sawla, and Wa corridor as emblematic of strategic connectivity, promising diminished travel durations, reduced vehicular maintenance outlays, and improved safety metrics. Town roads in Bamboi, Banda Nkwanta, and Tinga are embedded within the scheme to strengthen rural-urban linkages. He linked upgraded transport networks to cheaper food distribution, enhanced market access for farmers, and thousands of jobs.
Competitive procurement now governs the preponderance of awards, Dr Edem Segbefia noted, restoring transparency and value for public expenditure. Inherited works are being concluded alongside fresh projects, creating direct and indirect employment while stimulating ancillary trades. He contended that visible asphalt and graders in districts furnish the grassroots with tangible narratives of governance delivery.
The sector’s revival follows years of stalled works and unpaid obligations that crippled mobility and commerce. By leveraging internal resources and disciplined contracting, the administration seeks to convert infrastructure into a lever for productivity, political capital, and long-term incumbency. The Bono East engagement signals the centrality of roads to the party’s mobilization architecture.
