Fire Amansie Central DCE: Bruno Foli

Bruno Foli, Special Aide to the Ho Central Constituency MP, has condemned the imposition of levies on artisanal miners using chanfans to destroy water bodies, calling for the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Amansie Central, Emmanuel Agyemang, to face disciplinary action. According to Bruno Foli, the DCE’s actions contravene the Code of Conduct for Office holders in the Government of President Mahama.
Foli made these comments on Ewenyigba TV’s Morning Show with Tony Mark-Boye, emphasizing that the DCE’s actions are unacceptable. He urged the authorities to take swift action against the DCE.
The DCE had reportedly imposed a levy of GH¢6000 on artisanal miners in the Amansie Central District, sparking outrage among stakeholders. Foli described the move as “unacceptable” and urged the authorities to take swift action against the DCE.
The Amansie Central District has been plagued by galamsey activities, with several water bodies being polluted. The imposition of the levy has raised questions about the government’s commitment to combating galamsey. The issue has sparked heated debates, with many calling for stricter enforcement of anti-galamsey laws.
In the past, the government has launched several initiatives to combat galamsey, including the deployment of military personnel to mining areas. However, the effectiveness of these efforts remains a subject of debate.
The fight against galamsey requires a multi-pronged approach, involving government agencies, traditional leaders, and local communities. As Ghana’s water regulator warns that the country may need to import water in the next five years due to galamsey, stakeholders are urging the government to take decisive action.
