Kpandai MP Fires Back at Dafeamekpor Over Parliament Showdown

The embattled Member of Parliament for Kpandai, Matthew Nyindam, has accused Majority Chief Whip Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor of plotting his removal from Parliament. According to Joy News, the dispute stems from a High Court ruling that annulled Nyindam’s 2024 parliamentary victory, citing late filing of an election petition.

Dafeamekpor had opposed Nyindam’s attempt to participate in parliamentary proceedings, arguing that the court ruling meant Nyindam was no longer a member of Parliament. However, Nyindam has filed an appeal and an application for a stay of execution at the Supreme Court, challenging the High Court’s decision.

The Supreme Court has since overturned the High Court ruling, reinstating Nyindam as MP for Kpandai. Dafeamekpor has warned that the matter is not settled, stating that the NPP shouldn’t think it’s over. According to 3News, Dafeamekpor accused the Electoral Commission of collusion with the NPP over delays in announcing a re-run.

The dispute highlights the intense political rivalry between the two parties. Nyindam’s appeal and the Supreme Court’s decision have added a new layer of complexity to the situation. The outcome remains uncertain, with potential implications for the balance of power in Parliament.

The controversy has sparked heated debate, with some calling for calm and adherence to the rule of law. As the situation unfolds, Ghanaians are watching closely, awaiting the next developments.
