Ghana’s President Heads to Dubai for Global Summit

Ghana’s President John Mahama has departed for Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to attend the prestigious World Governments Summit 2026, a gathering of global leaders, policymakers, and business executives. The summit, scheduled to take place from February 2 to 4, will focus on governance, innovation, and international development, providing a platform for exchanging ideas and strategies to shape future policies.
According to the Presidency Communications, President Mahama’s trip is at the invitation of the UAE ruler, and he will be transported to Dubai on a special aircraft provided by the UAE government. This underscores the cordial relations between Ghana and the United Arab Emirates.
The World Governments Summit is expected to attract over 40 heads of state and government, 500 ministers, and more than 150 governments, making it a significant event in global governance discussions. President Mahama’s participation highlights Ghana’s commitment to being an active player in addressing international challenges.
Following the summit, President Mahama will proceed to Lusaka, Zambia, for a three-day State Visit from February 4 to 6, at the invitation of President Hakainde Hichilema. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations and economic cooperation between Ghana and Zambia, with a focus on priority areas such as agriculture, energy, and trade.
During his visit, President Mahama is expected to address the Zambian National Assembly, engage with members of the Ghanaian community in Lusaka, and participate in a Ghana-Zambia Business Dialogue to promote trade and investment opportunities.
The visit is a reciprocal engagement following President Hichilema’s State Visit to Ghana in July 2023 and builds on the outcomes of the Second Session of the Zambia-Ghana Joint Permanent Commission held in Lusaka in October 2025.
