A major fire outbreak has struck the Akosombo Dam powerhouse causing disruption in power supply in many parts of the country.. An urgent response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) calmed the situation. According to #WoezorTV, emergency teams are on the ground, working tirelessly to contain the blaze and prevent further damage.
The GNFS has deployed specialized personnel to the scene, focusing on extinguishing the fire and ensuring the safety of surrounding areas. While assessments are ongoing, authorities have assured the public that efforts are underway to bring the situation under control.
The Akosombo Dam, a critical component of Ghana’s energy infrastructure, is a key hydroelectric power plant. The fire’s cause is yet to be determined, and investigations are expected to follow once the situation is stabilized.
According to the GNFS, the fire is not near the dam itself but rather at the powerhouse, and there is no immediate threat to the dam’s operations. However, the service has stationed personnel around the dam as a precautionary measure.
The public is urged to remain calm as authorities work to resolve the situation. The GNFS has emphasized the importance of fire safety and prevention, especially during the dry season.
