
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) are currently visiting selected polling centers to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries.
According to Ghana News Agency, the IGP has assured the NPP of maximum security during the election, deploying at least 70 police personnel to each polling center across the country. This move is aimed at maintaining order and preventing any potential disruptions.
The NPP primaries are being closely watched, with thousands of delegates nationwide voting to select a flagbearer for the 2028 general elections. The outcome is expected to shape the party’s future.
The Electoral Commission will supervise the printing, distribution, and monitoring of ballot papers, while the Ghana Police Service will provide exclusive control of election-day security. The party has also warned against private security personnel at voting centers {{IE_0}}¹{{/IE_0}} {{IE_1}}²{{/IE_1}}.
The IGP emphasized that security arrangements will be comprehensive and professional, with senior officers present at polling stations. Voting is expected to proceed smoothly, with Greater Accra and Ashanti regions being key battlegrounds {{IE_0}}¹{{/IE_0}} {{IE_2}}³{{/IE_2}}.
