Trump Unveils ‘Trump Class’ Navy Battleships
President Donald Trump has introduced a new “Trump class” of Navy battleships, touted as a superior war-fighting vessel to replace the US fleet’s aging ships. Trump described the vessels as “the fastest, the biggest, and by far 100 times more powerful than any battleship ever built”
The battleships will be equipped with advanced weaponry, including hypersonic missiles, electric rail guns, cruise missiles, and sophisticated laser systems. Trump emphasized that these ships will maintain American military supremacy, revive the US shipbuilding industry, and inspire fear in America’s enemies. The president plans to be directly involved in the design, citing his personal interest in aesthetics.
The “Trump class” ships will form part of the “Golden Fleet,” aimed at countering China and other adversaries. Initially, the Navy will build two ships, followed by eight more, with Trump envisioning a fleet of 20-25 vessels. These ships will be the largest ever built, weighing between 30,000 and 40,000 tons.
Trump’s announcement comes amid heightened US naval activity in the Caribbean, with efforts to disrupt Venezuela’s oil exports. The Navy has been involved in interdictions of oil tankers, and the Coast Guard has taken the lead in these operations.
The naming of the “Trump class” battleships has sparked speculation, with posters at the event showing the ship named USS Defiant. If the Navy follows tradition, the first ship built with this design could be named USS Trump, though this would likely take years.
