NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Koduah, popularly known as JFK, has vowed that every NDC member found to be involved in illegal mining (galamsey) will be jailed if the NPP returns to power. The strong warning comes amid renewed public concern over galamsey activities across the country.

JFK stated that the next NPP administration will not shield any person involved in galamsey, regardless of political affiliation, but will ensure that NDC members who are using their current positions to condone or profit from illegal mining are held accountable. He said galamsey has destroyed water bodies and farmlands and cannot be tolerated.

According to JFK, intelligence available to the NPP indicates that some NDC officials are complicit in galamsey operations while publicly pretending to fight it. He argued that selective application of the law under the current administration has emboldened illegal miners with political connections.

The NPP General Secretary assured that under an NPP government, all persons involved in galamsey will face prosecution without fear or favour. He added that the party’s policy will focus on reclaiming degraded lands, protecting water bodies, and providing alternative livelihoods for genuine small-scale miners willing to mine responsibly.

The statement has generated mixed reactions, with NPP supporters hailing it as bold and necessary, while NDC communicators describe it as political rhetoric. Galamsey remains a major national issue with government under pressure to show stronger commitment to ending the menace.
