Dafeamekpor: Dutch Court Rejects 2 Bail Bids For Ohene Kwame Frimpong
Majority Chief Whip and South Dayi MP Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor has disclosed that two bail applications filed for Asante Akyem North MP Ohene Kwame Frimpong have been rejected by Dutch authorities. Mr Frimpong is currently in custody in Amsterdam ahead of an extradition hearing linked to romance scams and money laundering allegations.
According to Mr Dafeamekpor, the Asante Akyem North legislator remains detained in Amsterdam after Dutch courts denied both attempts to secure his release pending proceedings. He is scheduled to appear before a Dutch court on 18th November 2026 for an extradition hearing over allegations linked to romance scams and money laundering.
The disclosure clarifies the status of the MP who has been in custody abroad, with parliamentary leadership monitoring the case through diplomatic and legal channels. Mr Dafeamekpor indicated that the Majority Caucus is following developments closely while respecting the judicial process in the Netherlands.
Extradition matters are governed by international mutual legal assistance treaties where requested persons remain in custody if courts assess flight risk.
