Students of Ziavi Senior High Technical School in the Ho Central Municipality can now heave a sigh of relief following the donation of wooden double-decker bunk beds by their Member of Parliament, Hon. Richmond Edem Kofi Kpotosu. The donation, which was done on Friday, forms part of efforts to address acute accommodation challenges facing second cycle institutions in the constituency.

According to Hon. Kpotosu, the intervention follows passionate appeals and formal requests from several Senior High and Technical Schools across Ho Central seeking support to augment their dormitory facilities. Speaking to Howedey.com at Ziavi on Saturday, the MP disclosed that Ziavi SHTS was selected as the first beneficiary because of the urgent nature of its needs. “It is with immense joy, a deep sense of fulfilment, and great honour that I announce the donation and distribution of wooden double-decker bunk beds to the students of Ziavi Senior High Technical School,” he stated.

The Ho Central legislator described the gesture as modest but deliberate, aimed at ameliorating the welfare and dignity of students in their dormitories. He stressed that a decent and conducive resting environment is critical to academic excellence. “I hold the firm conviction that when students are provided with a decent, comfortable, and conducive environment to rest and study, they are not only motivated to learn but also inspired to aspire for academic excellence and to become responsible future leaders,” Hon. Kpotosu told Howedey.com.

Hon. Kpotosu used the occasion to reassure other schools that have made similar requests that his office will not relent. “I wish to assure all other Senior High and Technical Schools within Ho Central that have made similar requests that this is only the beginning. I remain resolutely committed to extending this support to all awaiting institutions in due course, as part of our broader agenda to enhance education and youth development,” he added. He maintained that education remains the bedrock of national development.

Receiving the items on behalf of the school, the Headmaster of Ziavi SHTS expressed profound gratitude to the MP, describing the donation as timely and life-changing for the students. He noted that overcrowding in the dormitories had been a major concern for management and the intervention will significantly improve discipline and concentration. “We are extremely grateful to Hon. Kpotosu for coming to our aid at a time we needed it most. These bunk beds will help reduce congestion and give our students the comfort they deserve. We appeal for more support to cover the remaining deficit,” the Headmaster said.

Students who spoke to Howedey.com also shared their excitement, chanting “Ayekoo” to the MP and management. Hon. Kpotosu concluded by reaffirming his commitment to championing initiatives that improve both teaching and learning in Ho Central. “As your Member of Parliament, I shall continue to champion initiatives that improve both teaching and learning, as well as the overall welfare of students,” he stressed.
