The Battlefield of Your Mind

“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of
God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” — 2 Corinthians 10:5

The greatest battlefield is not around you; it is in your mind. Every victory or defeat in life begins
in the mind. The devil knows that if he can control your mind, he can control your life. That is why
the fiercest battles are fought in your thoughts — battles of fear, doubt, lust, worry, and
discouragement. Whoever wins the mind, wins the man.

Your mind is a battlefield because your mind is a gateway. What you allow in your mind will
eventually live in your life. If you allow defeat in your mind, you will live defeated. If you allow sin
in your mind, you will fall into sin. “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he” — Proverbs 23:7 KJV.
Your life moves in the direction of your dominant thoughts.

The enemy fights you with thoughts. He throws imaginations, suggestions, and lies. He tells you
that you will never make it, that God has forsaken you, that your past disqualifies you. But you
must cast them down. You must not entertain every thought that comes. Some thoughts are not
yours — they are arrows from the enemy. You must bring every thought into captivity to the
obedience of Christ.

How do you win the battlefield of the mind? By renewing your mind with the Word. “And be not
conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind” — Romans 12:2
KJV. When your mind is renewed with truth, it becomes too fortified for lies to stay. Fill your mind
with the Word, and the Word will fight for you.

We win this battle by the Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the keeper of our mind. He gives us a sound
mind. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound
mind” — 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV.
When you are filled with the Holy Spirit, He guards your thoughts, He
silences the enemy’s lies, and He gives you peace that passes understanding to mount guard over your mind.

Prayer: Father, thank You for victory on the battlefield of my mind. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit
and give me a sound mind. I cast down every fearful, evil, and discouraging thought, and I bring
every thought into captivity to Christ. Let my mind be filled with Your peace and truth. In Jesus’
name, Amen.
