As part of the mourning period, President Tinubu directed that all national flags be flown at half-mast across the country and at Nigerian missions abroad from Monday, 6th October to Wednesday, 8th October, 2026. He also suspended all official engagements and celebrations within the presidency during the mourning window.

The Nigerian Defence Headquarters confirmed that a Board of Inquiry has been constituted to investigate the cause of the crash. Preliminary reports suggest possible technical failure, but officials say no conclusion will be drawn until the black box is recovered and analyzed. Burial arrangements for the fallen officers will be conducted with full military honours after families are formally notified.
