7 Development Projects Commissioned In Ho Central Constituency
HO — Seven completed development projects have been commissioned and officially handed over to beneficiary communities in the Ho Municipality of the Volta Region.
The Volta Regional Minister, Mr James Gunu, led the commissioning together with the Ho Central Member of Parliament, Mr Richmond Edem Kofi Kpotosu, and the Municipal Chief Executive for Ho, Mr Stephen Adom.
The projects comprise two CHPS compounds at Takla Atiyinu and Ziavi Bamefedo, a three-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Hodzo Alavanyo, a six-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Nyive, a two-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Shia, and two-unit nurses’ quarters at Tokokoe and Matse.
Speaking at Tokokoe, the Ho Central Constituency NDC Member of Parliament, Mr Richmond Edem Kpotosu, assured other communities that many more projects are in the offing for the Ho Central Constituency. He urged beneficiary communities to maintain a good culture of maintenance for the facilities they already have.
Mr Kpotosu also asked the communities to relate warmly with the health workers who will work at the facilities, to motivate them to give their best.
The Regional Minister, Mr James Gunu, emphasised the need for citizens to appreciate that these developments are reliefs the government gives to citizens, which in fact have an economic impact on the lives of the people.
He applauded the President for the Free Primary Health Care policy, which is for every Ghanaian with a Ghana Card, aside from the Ghana Health Insurance. He said non-communicable diseases which are not captured under the Ghana Health Insurance are tackled under the Ghana Medical Trust Fund at the Regional Hospitals.
Also speaking at Tokokoe, the Regional Minister said cancers like breast cancer, and prostate conditions which do not fall under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), are taken care of under the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, also called Mahama Cares, when patients go to Regional or Teaching Hospitals.
He said almost 700 projects are already ongoing in the region, funded by the District Assemblies Common Fund, with 100 being CHPS compounds.
The Chief of Nyive, Torgbui Apasu, expressed appreciation to the MCE, the MP and the Regional Minister for heeding their plea for a school, and asked that government builds a Technical Institute to help further education and skills development in the community.
In response, the MCE of Ho, Mr Stephen Adom, applauded the contractor for delivering on time and assured the community of more developmental projects of that nature.
💬 Howedey Insight: Seven projects commissioned, almost 700 ongoing in Volta, and a call for a Technical Institute in Nyive. At Tokokoe, the message was clear — maintain what you have, welcome your health workers, and know that Mahama Cares covers what NHIS does not.
