
The British national was arrested in Westminster, London, on Tuesday, 7th October, on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006. Senior National Coordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing, Vicki Evans, said police are pursuing multiple lines of enquiry into the circumstances surrounding events near RAF Fairford. “This remains a live investigation and our specialist teams continue to pursue multiple lines of inquiry. We remain committed to investigating all possible angles,” she said. Police have thanked the public for their patience while working through the highly complex investigation.
Police stressed that no one has been charged yet and the release on bail is an investigative decision grounded in experience and strategy. The investigation remains live with searches continuing at properties linked to the suspects. Authorities are examining whether a foreign state may have been involved, with 85 households evacuated during the initial cordon on 27th September.
