NPP National Youth Organiser Abanga Fuseini has declared that a $500 million bail bond will await NDC offenders when the NPP returns to power. He made the explosive statement during a youth forum in Kumasi, warning that the next NPP administration will not spare any appointee found to have abused office under the Mahama government.

According to Fuseini, the current wave of arrests and prosecutions targeting NPP figures including Chairman Wontumi has set a precedent that will be strictly applied in reverse. He argued that EOCO and other state agencies being used against opposition members will be tasked to pursue NDC officials with the same energy, insisting that accountability must be equal and severe.

Fuseini said the $500 million bail figure is symbolic of the level of financial loss he alleges the NDC is causing through corruption, illegal mining cover-ups and procurement breaches. He claimed that while NPP members are being dragged to court over Akonta Mining and other cases, NDC officials are being shielded from similar scrutiny. He vowed that no offender will walk free under a future NPP government.

The comment has sparked heated debate online. NDC communicators have described the threat as reckless and unconstitutional, arguing that bail is determined by courts and not by political parties. NPP youth activists however have hailed Fuseini as bold, saying his warning serves as a deterrent and restores hope among grassroots members who feel persecuted by the current administration.

Political observers say such statements are increasing tension ahead of the 2028 general elections, with both NPP and NDC using arrests, bail conditions and pardons as campaign tools. As of now, the NDC has not officially responded to Fuseini’s $500 million bail bond warning, but sources say a rebuttal is expected from its youth wing in the coming hours.
