Reckoning your Worth
“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.” — 1 John 3:1 ESV
Reckoning your worth means agreeing with God about who you are. Not what your performance
says. Not what people say. Not what your past says. What God says. The enemy wants you to measure your value by likes, titles, money, mistakes, or comparison. But God measures your worth by the cross. “You were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body” — 1 Corinthians 6:20 ESV.
Jesus didn’t die for something cheap. He died for you because you are deeply loved and infinitely
valuable to Him. When you reckon your worth in Christ, insecurity loses its grip. Shame loses its voice. You stop striving to earn what was already given. “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” — John 1:12 ESV.
You are chosen, adopted, forgiven, and sealed. “In him we have redemption through his blood,
the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace” — Ephesians 1:7 ESV. This
is not pride. It is faith. It is reckoning — counting as true — what God has already declared. “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works” — Ephesians 2:10 ESV.
We walk this out by the Spirit. “The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children
of God” — Romans 8:16 ESV. When you are filled with the Holy Spirit, He reminds you daily: you are loved, you belong, you are enough in Christ. Stop negotiating your worth. Reckon it. Believe
it. Live from it.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the price You paid for me. Fill me with Your Spirit and help me to reckon my worth the way You do. Heal the places where I’ve believed lies. Remind me daily that I am Your child, loved and called. Let me live from that truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
