Godly Filters

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” — Philippians 4:8 ESV

What you allow into your mind shapes what comes out of your life. Godly filters are the boundaries we set on what we watch, listen to, read, and dwell on. They protect our heart and keep our thoughts aligned with God’s Word. “Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life” — Proverbs 4:23 ESV.

Everything starts in the heart. If we let just anything in, we will end up living just any way. But when we filter life through Scripture, we think differently, speak differently, and choose differently. David prayed, “I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless” — Psalm 101:3 ESV.

That is intentional. Not every show, song, scroll, or conversation is worth your attention. Ask: Is it
true? Is it pure? Is it excellent? Does it build me up or tear me down? We don’t do this by guilt
and rules. We do it by the Spirit. “The mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God… But the mind that is set on the Spirit is life and peace” — Romans 8:5,6 ESV.

When you are filled with the Holy Spirit, He gives you discernment and strength to say no, and He fills you with things that are lovely and worthy of praise. Set your filters today. Guard your eyes. Guard your ears. Guard your feed. Fill your mind with God’s Word, and you’ll find your life following.

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, help me to set godly filters over my life. Teach me what to take in and what to turn away from. Renew my mind with Your Word. Let my thoughts be pleasing to You and full of what is true, pure, and lovely. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
