Attorney-General Moves To Block Aludiba UK Trip
The Attorney-General has petitioned the High Court to rescind an earlier order permitting Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, first accused in the Buffer Stock case, to travel to the United Kingdom for specialist medical care. The application cites fresh developments relating to an alleged attempt to access frozen funds.
The State is seeking to set aside the June twenty-ninth ruling that granted Aludiba permission to leave the jurisdiction. Prosecutors argue that material facts which emerged after the order was issued materially alter the risk assessment and undermine the premise on which judicial discretion was exercised.
The legal intervention coincides with Aludiba’s release on bail by the Economic and Organised Crime Office following his arrest. That development has intensified scrutiny of bail conditions, asset preservation orders, and the adequacy of safeguards to prevent flight or dissipation of assets in high-profile economic prosecutions.
Legal analysts observe that courts routinely weigh medical necessity against public interest and the integrity of ongoing proceedings. However, when new evidence suggests potential interference with restrained assets or evasion, the threshold for varying prior orders becomes considerably lower.
