Opare Ansah Vows Credible Npp Executive Polls

NPP Elections Committee Chairman promises a transparent, impartial and constitutionally compliant process to elect new executives.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has inaugurated its National Elections Committee to oversee the election of the party’s next national officers, with committee chairman Frederick Opare-Ansah assuring members that the process will be fair, transparent and fully compliant with the party’s constitution and electoral regulations. The committee was officially inaugurated by the Acting National Chairman of the NPP, Chairman Butey, who tasked its members with planning, organising and supervising all processes leading to the party’s National Conference, where delegates will elect new national executives.
Speaking after the inauguration, Opare-Ansah said the committee fully understood the importance of its assignment and was committed to delivering an electoral process that would strengthen confidence in the party’s internal democratic system. He assured aspirants and party members that every decision taken by the committee would be guided strictly by the NPP Constitution and the party’s electoral regulations, stressing that all contestants would be accorded equal treatment throughout the process. “Our responsibility is to ensure a fair, transparent and credible election that reflects the democratic values of the party,” he indicated, adding that the committee would perform its mandate impartially and without fear or favour.
He further appealed to aspirants, delegates and party faithful to cooperate with the committee and respect the rules governing the elections, urging contestants to focus on issue-based campaigns while avoiding actions capable of creating divisions within the party. According to him, although internal contests are a vital feature of democratic politics, preserving the unity and cohesion of the NPP before, during and after the elections remains paramount.
The National Elections Committee also has Evans Nimako serving as Secretary. Hon. Abena Osei Asare is the Vice Chair, while Madam Oboshie Sai Cofie, Hon. Anthony Abayifa Karbo, Hon. Salam Ama Appianin Damata, Mr. Eric Ntori and Mr. Frank Davies are members. The Ashanti Regional Chairman will also serve on the committee after the conclusion of the party’s Ashanti Regional elections. The committee has been mandated to plan, organise and superintend over all activities leading to the National Conference and the election of the party’s national officers, making it one of the most critical organs in the NPP’s ongoing internal reorganisation.
In inaugurating the committee, Chairman Butey expressed confidence in the members’ ability to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, fairness, transparency and professionalism. He urged them to uphold the party’s democratic traditions and ensure that the electoral process commands the trust and confidence of members across the country.
The inauguration marks a significant step in the NPP’s preparations to elect a new national leadership, a process expected to shape the party’s organisational direction and strategic planning as it positions itself for the 2028 general election. The successful conduct of the elections is expected to reinforce confidence in the party’s internal democratic structures while fostering unity ahead of future political contests.
