GES Scrambles to Fix Recruitment Portal Glitches

The Ghana Education Service (GES) is working to manually resolve technical challenges affecting its online teacher recruitment portal, which has left many applicants frustrated. According to #CitiNewsroom, the portal’s difficulties have hindered the application process for thousands of hopeful teachers vying for 7,000 positions nationwide.

The recruitment exercise, which began on April 10, 2026, aims to address teacher shortages, particularly in underserved communities. However, applicants have reported issues with document uploads, missing school names, and inaccessible districts or colleges on the system.

GES has acknowledged the concerns and assured applicants that efforts are underway to rectify the situation. “Applicants are advised to try accessing the portal during off-peak hours or use a stable internet connection,” said a GES spokesperson.

The recruitment portal was initially expected to close on April 17, 2026, but given the technical issues, applicants are hoping for an extension. Priority will be given to candidates willing to work in deprived districts, where staffing gaps are most severe.

As the GES works to resolve the portal’s technical challenges, thousands of trained teachers remain hopeful for a spot in the country’s education system.
