Mahama Unveils Ghana’s Renewal Plan

President John Dramani Mahama has outlined Ghana’s path toward renewal, emphasizing fiscal discipline, transparency, sustainable development, and the vital link between health and economic sovereignty, in his State of the Nation Address.

According to the President, Ghana’s economy is regaining strength, with key fundamentals showing signs of sustained improvement. He attributed the progress to his administration’s fiscal discipline and prudent expenditure management, which has restored investor confidence and positioned the country for accelerated growth.

The President stated, “Ghana is back, Ghana is working again, and Ghana is open for business. The fundamentals are improving, and the path to sustained acceleration is very clear to everyone.” He emphasized that his government has chosen discipline over waste and stability over speculation, yielding remarkable outcomes across the economy.

Mahama highlighted the challenges facing the country, including a staggering debt of GHS 721 billion and significant financing challenges in the energy sector. However, he expressed confidence in his government’s ability to reset the economy, citing measures such as reducing the budget deficit and implementing corrective measures to restore fiscal discipline and debt sustainability.

The President also announced plans to host a National Economic Dialogue and present the budget estimates for the financial year, aiming to present a clear picture of Ghana’s economic crisis and outline strategies for recovery. He urged Ghanaians to trust his government’s competence in turning the economy around.

As Ghana embarks on this renewal journey, Mahama’s leadership and vision are expected to drive the country’s growth and development.
