Foster Delali Anani, a member of the Ho Central Constituency NDC Communications Team, has emphasized that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) still upholds the core philosophies of probity, accountability, and development, as championed by the late Jerry John Rawlings. Anani’s assertion comes amid claims that the party has deviated from its founding principles.

Speaking on Ewenyigba TV’s Morning Show with Tony Mark-Boye on January 9th, 2026, Anani defended Rawlings’ legacy, stating that the former president deserves honour and immortalization for his contributions to Ghana’s development. He noted that the NDC remains committed to the values of transparency, accountability, and people-centered development.

Anani made these comments while discussing the election of a statue at Dzelukope on January 7th, 2026, in honour of J.J. Rawlings. Party leaders, including General Secretary Fifi Kwetey and Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, have emphasized Rawlings’ enduring influence on Ghana’s politics.

The party’s commitment to Rawlings’ core values serves as a reminder of the importance of leadership accountability and national development. Rawlings’ family has welcomed the NDC’s initiatives, with his daughter, Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, urging Ghanaians to honour her father’s legacy through integrity and service.

She emphasized that monuments alone cannot preserve Rawlings’ memory, but rather it is the impact of his values on society that truly matters. The NDC’s efforts to immortalize Rawlings are seen as a way to inspire future generations to emulate his values.

As Ghana continues to navigate its democratic journey, the NDC’s commitment to Rawlings’ core values is a significant aspect of the country’s political landscape.
