NPP’s Awal Mohammed Slams Ato Forson’s Competence

Awal Mohammed, a member of the New Patriotic Party’s Communications Team, has questioned the competence of Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, citing the National Democratic Congress’s performance in 2025 compared to the NPP’s first year in office in 2017.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mohammed made the comment while speaking on GHOne TV, stating that a comparison between the two periods would highlight Forson’s incompetence. Mohammed’s remarks come amid concerns about the current government’s handling of the economy and allegations of mismanagement.
The NPP Communications Team member emphasized that the previous NPP government had achieved significant milestones, including introducing free Senior High School education and stabilizing the economy. According to MyJoyOnline, the NPP’s 2024 manifesto focuses on building a digital economy, reducing the cost of living, and creating jobs.
In contrast, the NDC’s 2024 manifesto emphasizes industrialization, agriculture, and social programs. Mohammed’s comments have sparked debate, with some questioning the NDC’s economic policies and others defending Forson’s efforts.
A security analyst has also weighed in, stating that Forson lacks authority to make key decisions in the Defence Ministry, further fueling concerns about his competence ยน.
The controversy highlights the ongoing political tensions in Ghana, with both parties trading barbs over economic management and governance.
