NPP's Valentino Nii Noi Nortey in US Prison Over Alleged Wife Stabbing

A former parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Klottey Korle constituency, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey, has been remanded into custody in Pennsylvania, USA, after allegedly stabbing his wife in a violent domestic dispute.
According to the Lower Paxton Township Police Department, the incident occurred on the morning of Saturday, January 17, 2026, along Mayfair Drive in Harrisburg. Nortey, 41, was apprehended following the attack, and his wife was rushed to a local hospital, where she is currently in stable condition.
The police confirmed that Nortey faces charges of criminal attempt – homicide, possessing an instrument of crime with intent to use, and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David Judy, who denied him bail due to the gravity of the charges.
Nortey’s arrest has sent shockwaves through the NPP community, particularly as he was a prominent figure in the party’s Greater Accra wing. He contested the Klottey Korle seat in the 2024 general elections but lost to Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The wife’s family alleges that Nortey stabbed her multiple times after she threatened to divorce him. The incident has sparked widespread concern and outrage, with many calling for swift justice.
Nortey is currently being held at Dauphin County Prison, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for January 26, 2026.
