Volta Region Gets Boost with New CHPS Compound

The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has emphasized the importance of investing in healthcare infrastructure to support social interventions like Mahama Care. According to Ghana News, Gunu made this statement during the sod-cutting and handing-over ceremony for the construction of a CHPS compound with ancillary facilities at Agorgbe.

Gunu highlighted the progress made in decentralizing development funds, noting that President John Dramani Mahama had ensured 80% of the District Assemblies Common Fund is released directly to the assemblies, a promise he fulfilled. This move has significantly improved development at the district level.
The new CHPS compound will serve Agorgbe and surrounding communities, strengthening primary healthcare delivery and improving quality of life in the Volta Region. Gunu reiterated the President’s directive that government appointees must ensure completion of every project started.
Gunu also emphasized the importance of regular site meetings to ensure smooth progress and timely completion of the facility within the six-month construction period. The project aligns with the Medium-Term Development Plan, focusing on improving healthcare infrastructure.
The Volta Regional Minister’s commitment to healthcare development is evident in his efforts to address pressing issues in the region. The community is expected to benefit significantly from this initiative.
