President John Mahama has commissioned a $9.8 million Ghana Chancery in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, marking a significant milestone in the country’s diplomatic efforts. The chancery, located in the heart of the Ethiopian capital, is expected to enhance Ghana’s diplomatic presence in the region and foster stronger ties with Ethiopia and other African countries. According to GHOne News, the facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and will serve as a hub for Ghana’s diplomatic activities in East Africa.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Mahama emphasized the importance of strengthening Ghana’s diplomatic relations with Ethiopia and other African countries. “This chancery is a symbol of our commitment to promoting Ghana’s interests and fostering cooperation with our African brothers and sisters,” he said.

The chancery is part of Ghana’s efforts to expand its diplomatic footprint across the continent, with several other missions currently under construction in key African cities. The facility will provide a range of services, including visa processing, consular services, and trade promotion.

Ethiopia is a key partner for Ghana in the East African region, with trade and investment ties between the two countries growing steadily. The chancery is expected to further boost economic cooperation and provide a platform for Ghanaian businesses to tap into the Ethiopian market.

The commissioning of the chancery comes at a time when Ghana is seeking to strengthen its economic diplomacy and attract more foreign investment. The facility is seen as a major boost to Ghana’s diplomatic efforts and a testament to its commitment to African integration.

The event was attended by senior government officials, diplomats, and business leaders from Ghana and Ethiopia, highlighting the strong ties between the two countries.
