Mortuary Mix-Up Throws Funeral Plans into Chaos

A shocking administrative error at the Assin Brofoyedru Mortuary in Ghana’s Central Region has left a family reeling. The family of George Kwame Antwi, a 40-year-old church steward, was informed just hours before his scheduled burial that his body had been mistakenly buried by another family three months ago.

According to GH One TV, Antwi’s remains were swapped with those of a 75-year-old man and interred in his place. The family had completed all funeral arrangements, including cooking and payments for services, when they received the devastating news.

“The family was informed only hours before the scheduled burial that their relative had already been interred three months ago by a completely different family who had mistaken him for their 75-year-old patriarch,” GH One TV reported.

The head of the family, Asare Oduro, expressed his distress, stating, “Before we could proceed, we were asked to report to the police station, where we were informed that another family had wrongly buried our relative about three months ago.”

The incident has sparked outrage and raised concerns about mortuary practices in the region. The family is demanding compensation for their expenses and an investigation into the mortuary’s negligence.

The mortuary’s mistake has caused immense emotional distress for the family and disrupted the funeral plans, leaving them seeking answers and justice.
