
A young mobile money operator was gunned down at the entrance of his residence in Garu, Upper East Region, in a shocking and brazen attack. The victim, identified only as K2, was shot and killed on February 24, 2026, at Bugnatenga, a suburb of Garu.
According to Citi News, residents describe the attack as targeted, sparking concerns about safety and security in the area. The motive behind the killing is still unclear, but authorities have been urged to investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with many calling for increased security measures to protect residents and business operators. Mobile money operators are particularly vulnerable to such attacks, often carrying large amounts of cash.
The Upper East Regional Police Command has confirmed the incident and launched an investigation. “We are working tirelessly to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice,” a police spokesperson said.
