Janazah Prayers Held for Late MP Naser Toure Mahama

A somber atmosphere enveloped the Ayawaso East Constituency as family, constituents, and dignitaries gathered to bid farewell to the late Member of Parliament, Naser Toure Mahama. The Janazah prayers were held at the Ayawaso East Constituency Office on the Kanda Highway, led by the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu.

According to TV3 News, the late MP’s burial was expedited, taking place less than 24 hours after his passing, in line with Islamic tradition. President John Dramani Mahama intervened to ensure the timely release of the body, allowing funeral arrangements to proceed without delay.

Naser Toure Mahama, popularly known as McNaza, was a veteran legislator who served four terms in Parliament, representing Ayawaso East since 2013. He was known for his community work, including initiatives like “Operation Cement Your Lungu,” aimed at improving sanitation and infrastructure in Nima.

The late MP’s contributions to Ghana’s development were notable, serving as Vice Chairman of the Energy Committee and member of several other committees. His passing has left a significant gap in Parliament and the Ayawaso East Constituency.

The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has put security measures in place to manage the crowds and traffic around the Kanda Highway and Nima-Mamobi enclave.

The late MP was re-elected in 2024 with a decisive mandate, polling 22,139 votes. His legacy of public service and community engagement will be remembered by his constituents and colleagues.
