New System Aims to Streamline School Placements

The government has announced a significant overhaul of the school placement process for Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates, allowing students to select their preferred Senior High Schools only after receiving their results. The move is expected to bring more transparency and fairness to the placement process.

According to the Ghana Education Service, the new system is designed to ensure that candidates are placed in schools that best match their abilities and interests. The change is also expected to reduce the pressure on students and parents, who often feel compelled to select multiple schools in the hope of securing a placement.

The new system will involve a computerized placement process, which will match students with schools based on their preferences and academic performance. Education officials say the system will help to eliminate biases and ensure that placements are made solely on merit.

“The new system is a welcome development, and we believe it will bring more efficiency to the placement process,” said a senior education official. The official added that the government is committed to ensuring that every child has access to quality education, regardless of their background or location.

The change has been welcomed by students, parents, and educators, who say it will help to reduce stress and anxiety associated with the placement process. The new system is expected to be implemented for the upcoming academic year.
