Minority Demands Refund for Failed Security Applicants

The Minority in Parliament is calling for the refund of approximately GH¢113 million collected from applicants who failed to qualify for the recent security service recruitment exercise. This follows revelations by the Minister for the Interior, Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, that more than 105,000 applicants have qualified for the medical stage of the ongoing recruitment, despite only 5,000 positions being available for final consideration.
According to #ParliamentaryProceedings, the Minority is outraged by the situation, describing it as a “clear case of exploitation” of desperate job seekers. They are demanding that the Ministry of the Interior takes immediate action to refund the application fees to the unsuccessful applicants.
The recruitment exercise has been marred by controversy, with many applicants expressing frustration and disappointment at the outcome. The Minority’s call for a refund is seen as a bid to hold the government accountable for its handling of the process.
“We are calling on the Minister to refund the money to the applicants as a gesture of goodwill and to demonstrate the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability,” said a Minority spokesperson.
The refund is expected to benefit over 100,000 applicants who paid application fees but failed to make it to the final stages of the recruitment process.
